Reaching Batch Winery on Waiheke Island is easy, whether you’re travelling independently, joining a tour, or arriving in true luxury. From taxis and public transport to private shuttles and helicopter transfers, there are plenty of ways to plan your journey and make the most of your time on the island.
Ferry Services from Downtown Auckland
Two primary passenger operators service the route from downtown Auckland to Matiatia Wharf:
Fullers360: Operates regular, frequent daily sailings. Tickets can be purchased online or at the terminal. Peak times can be busy, so we recommend arriving early.
Island Direct: Provides a premium passenger service with a regular timetable schedule and bookable sailings, allowing you to secure your preferred departure time in advance.
Both ferry options complete the scenic crossing across the Hauraki Gulf in approximately 40 minutes, bringing you directly to the island, where taxis and the hop-on hop-off bus are readily available to connect you to Batch Winery.

We recommend booking ahead during weekends and peak seasons to ensure availability.
Waiheke Explorer Hop-On Hop-Off Bus
The Waiheke Explorer Hop-On Hop-Off Bus operates daily and is a relaxed way to explore the island’s wineries, restaurants and scenic highlights.
Batch Winery is a designated stop on this route, making it an excellent option if you’re planning a day of wine tasting and sightseeing without the need to drive.
Public Bus – Auckland Transport Route 502
For those travelling by public transport, the Auckland Transport bus 502 stops at the bottom of Carsons Road. From there, expect a 50-minute walk through Whakanewha Regional Park before arriving at Batch Winery — a beautiful introduction to this part of Waiheke Island. It is a scenic walk through NZ native bush and is predominantly uphill, so be prepared with appropriate footwear and a water bottle. The wine and view at the top of the hill are worth it!
Private Shuttle Transfers
If you’re travelling as a group or looking for a seamless, door-to-door experience, private shuttle transfers are an excellent option. Local operators such as Heke Bus and Terra & Tide offer tailored transport solutions and bespoke pricing for events, celebrations and winery visits.
Helicopter Transfers
For an unforgettable arrival, Heli Me or Heletranz offers helicopter transfers from Auckland City to Batch Winery. The 12-minute scenic flight takes in breathtaking views of the Hauraki Gulf and is the fastest and most effortless way to reach the vineyard — perfect for special occasions or those short on time.
Fixed-wing Aircraft Transfers
For a truly unique perspective, you can also arrive by fixed-wing aircraft with Waiheke Wings. As the island’s only dedicated aeroplane operator, they offer scenic transfers and "fly and dine" packages that land at the Waiheke Airfield, located just a short 3-minute stroll from the Batch Winery cellar door. Flying in a classic Cessna 172 allows for a nostalgic and intimate journey, providing panoramic bird’s-eye views of the Hauraki Gulf’s islands and the sprawling vineyards of the Onetangi Valley before you touch down right in the heart of the island.
